Aaron Rodgers gets a step closer to likely reinjuring himself
source: Getty Images Aaron Rodgers has been cleared to return to practice 11 weeks after tearing his Achilles four plays into the New York Jets’ season opener.
In his quest to “ shock a lot of people,” the Gang Green signal-caller seems hellbent on getting back on the gridiron before the season’s end — despite little to play for except pride.
With Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle under center and Nathaniel Hackett running an uninspiring offensive attack, New York sits at 4-7 and waaayyyy out of a playoff spot.
New York Post columnist Mark Cannizzaro said that the Jets’ record and playoff standing “should make the chance Rodgers plays another game for the Jets this season less than ‘less than slim.’’’
However, as ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported, NYJ HC Robert Saleh said “Rodgers is cleared for functional football activity, but not cleared for contact” and “Rodgers will play if he wants to play, contingent upon being cleared by doctors.”
How is an offensive line, which has had seemingly endless different combinations at this point, going to keep the soon-to-be 40-year-old upright if he does indeed play meaningful snaps? Will Rodgers be able to shake off the rust and reinvigorate a dormant offense? We’ll see.
Either way, he wants us talking about him. At least this may distract fans from him endorsing anti-sunscreen propaganda.
