Angels release UTL Chris Taylor, RHP Hunter Strickland

Rebilas-Imagn Images The Los Angeles Angels released utility player Chris Taylor and right-hander Hunter Strickland on Saturday.
Both players had signed minor league contracts with the club.
Taylor, 35, split last season with the Los Angeles Dodgers (28 games) and Angels (30 games) and batted just .186 overall with two homers and 12 RBIs in 58 games. Taylor hit .179 for the Angels.
Taylor has a .248 career average with 110 homers and 443 RBIs in 1,123 games in 12 seasons with the Seattle Mariners (2014-16), Los Angeles Dodgers (2016-25) and Angels. He was a National League All-Star in 2021.
Strickland, 37, went 1-2 with one save and a 3.27 ERA in 19 appearances for the Angels last season.
Overall, Strickland is 26-25 with 30 saves and a 3.39 ERA in 499 career relief appearances with eight teams. Over his 11-year career, his longest stint with a club was the San Francisco Giants for 4 1/2 seasons at the outset of his career (2014-18). He was with the Angels twice (2021, 2024-25).
