Fifth-seeded Ann Li needed just 65 minutes to trounce Colombia's Camila Osorio 6-1, 6-2 on Monday in the first round of the Abierto GNP Seguros event in Monterrey, Mexico.

Li took advantage of nine double faults from Osorio to convert half of her 12 break-point opportunities. Osorio, a 2022 finalist in Monterrey, won just four of her 22 second-serve points.

Seventh-seeded Janice Tjen of Indonesia survived a tough challenge from Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5). Yastremska led 4-1 in the final set but couldn't hold on.

Alycia Parks rallied for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Croatia's Petra Marcinko, and Denmark's Clara Tauson wore down Mexico's Renata Zarazua 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.

In the last match of the night, sixth-seeded Donna Vekic of Croatia, the 2023 Monterrey champion, faced France's Diane Parry.
