Arthur Rinderknech goes the distance in Montpellier opener

Mandatory Credit: Mike Frey-Imagn Images No. 7 seed Arthur Rinderknech beat fellow Frenchman Harold Mayot 7-6 (2), 2-6, 6-1 to move on at the Open Occitanie on Tuesday in Montpellier, France.
Rinderknech, ranked 61st in the world, fired off 16 aces and overcame seven double faults while saving 14 of 16 break points to best Mayot.
No. 5 seed Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands had an easier time advancing past countryman Botic van de Zandschulp 7-5, 6-3 in his opener. Griekspoor saved 5 of 7 break points, went 4-for-4 in breaking his opponent's serve and benefited from 10 double faults by van de Zandschulp.
Other winners included American Christopher Eubanks, Italian Mattia Bellucci, qualifiers Richard Gasquet and Constant Lestienne, both of France, all in straight sets. Eubanks will face No. 1 seed Andrey Rublev of Russia in the Round of 16.
