ATP roundup: Top-seeded Holger Rune (leg) forced to retire from Stockholm semi

An emotional top-seeded Holger Rune of Denmark was forced to retire from his semifinal match of the Nordic Open in Stockholm due to a leg injury when he was up a set on French No. 4 seed Ugo Humbert on Saturday.

After winning the first set 6-4 and level at 2 in the second set, Rune pulled up after experiencing a sharp pain in his lower leg. After receiving treatment, he was unable to continue. Humbert, who had 12 winners to seven unforced errors, is through to his 10th ATP final.

He'll face Norway's No. 2 seed Casper Ruud, who advanced past third-seeded Canadian Denis Shapovalov 6-3, 6-4. Ruud won a dominant 83% of his first-service points, avenging a loss to Shapovalov in the finals of the Dallas Open in February.

Almaty Open

No. 2 seed Daniil Medvedev of Russia rallied past Australia's James Duckworth for a 6-7 (10), 6-3, 6-2 victory to advance to the championship match in Kazakhstan.

Medvedev, a former World No. 1 and the 2021 U.S. Open champion, is looking for his first tour-level title since 2023, losing his last six finals. He overcame eight double faults, six of which were in the first set, with 39 winners to 15 unforced errors.

He'll face No. 8 seed Corentin Moutet, who will be competing for his first career tour-level title after beating sixth-seeded Alex Michelsen 7-5, 6-4.

European Open

No. 2 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada ended native wild-card entrant Raphael Collignon's run in Brussels with a 7-6 (2), 6-4 win to advance to the championship match.

Auger-Aliassime was nearly untouchable when serving, winning 74% of his service points and facing no break points in the straight-sets victory, his 40th tour-level win of the season to advance to his fourth ATP final.

Jiri Lehecka, the No. 3 seed from the Czech Republic, will face Auger-Aliassime in the final. He also advanced in straight sets with a 7-6 (3), 7-6 (7) win over No. 5 seed Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard of France.
