Averaging nearly 100 points, Indiana to host Incarnate Word
Indiana's Tucker DeVries (12) shoots during the Indiana versus Milwaukee mens basketball game at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025. Through three games, the Darian DeVries era at Indiana is off to a high-scoring start.
Under DeVries, who came over as the Hoosiers' new head coach from West Virginia in the offseason, Indiana has scored at least 100 points twice and 98 points the other game.
Indiana will hope to keep its offensive momentum going Sunday against visiting Incarnate Word in the programs' first-ever meeting.
"They just share the ball," DeVries said of his team. "I think that's what good offense comes from. You know, guys that are willing to move it, share it. We got great balance. One night it could be this guy, one night the next guy. They really don't care. They don't talk about it. They just go out and play and they take what the defense gives them."
Indiana is shooting 56% from the field overall, 47.5% from 3-point range and has a 2.8 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Lamar Wilkerson, a transfer from Sam Houston State, leads the Hoosiers in scoring with 22.0 points per game.
Tucker DeVries, Darian's son, is averaging 19.0 points after following his father over from West Virginia.
"I just think they're getting the right type of shots," Daren DeVries said. "I think (we) do a great job understanding how to get shooters open. They have a really good understanding of when to deliver it. Their timing there has been good."
The next challenge will be Incarnate Word, which was picked to finish seventh in the Southland Conference's preseason poll after a 19-win season under third-year head coach Shane Heirman.
Incarnate Word, 2-1 after a loss to Colorado State (98-64) and wins over Jarvis Christian (104-60) and Southwestern Christian (109-70), has been led in scoring by guards Davion Bailey (19.0), Tahj Staveskie (18.7) and Harrison Reede (17.0). Staveskie leads the Cardinals in rebounds (7.0), assists (7.0) and steals (2.0).
