Best NHL Bets Tonight: Three Picks for a Loaded January 13th Slate

We’ve got a pretty packed 10 game slate in the NHL tonight as the games bunch up a bit as we head into the Olympic break. 

So hey, let’s pick three!

Canucks at Senators

Canucks ML (+198 FanDuel)

Its a battle of the bottom feeders here. Vancouver has the worst record in the league with just 37 points while Ottawa sits at the bottom of the more crowded East at 45 points. I’m just not sure why in the world the Senators merit this kind of price.

Goalie Linus Ullmark remains on personal leave amidst a super uncharacteristically bad 88.1% Save%, -11.19 GSAA 28 game start. Unfortunately Leevi Meriläinen, his primary replacement, is even worse at 86.6% Save% and -12.19 GSAA in just 17 games. The Sens have dropped 4 straight and 6 of 8 without Ulmark.

Yes Vancouver traded their best player in Quinn Hughes and sits in an 0-4-2 rut themselves. A really bad team will win this game. Give me the plus money.

Red Wings at Bruins

Original six teams face off, I love it!

The Bruins have played surprisingly well in what looked like a rebuilding season, sitting just on the cusp of the playoffs at 25-19-2. They’ve also won 5 of their last 6 and feature an excellent goalie in Jeremy Swayman.

So why fade them here? Well they will likely play without 25 goal scored Morgan Geekie as he left Saturday’s 10-2 destruction of the Rangers due to a family situation (best wishes).

Detroit comes in a back-to-back, but the Bruins are playing their 3rd game in 4 days so that rest advantage is minimal. And they’re just the better and overall hotter team as they’ve gone 10-3-1 in the past month with a 45-33 goal advantage.

Stars at Ducks

Stars ML (-110 Fanatics)

Anaheim started the season on fire. On December 9th they sat atop the Pacific Division at 19-10-1 with one of the top offenses in the league.

But they’ve gone an ugly 2-11-2 since then, while getting outscored by a ghastly 39-70 margin. Goalie Lukas Dostal has just an 85.5% Save % and worst in the league -10.95 GSAA in just 12 games during the extended team slump.

Dallas has not exactly surged lately either, going on an extended 5-5-4 stretch of meh over this same timeframe, with a dead even 48=48 goal count. They still remain a top 5 team in the league, so let’s roll with them at an attractive price here.
