The 15-year NFL veteran who finished the 2023 season with the Houston Texans had spent more than four seasons with the Broncos before rejoining Houston last season.
Bills safety Mike Edwards is considered week-to-week with a hamstring injury, coach Sean McDermott said Monday.
Jackson, 36, was waived by the Broncos following two suspensions totaling six games due to hits deemed unnecessary roughness by the NFL.
Jackson drew a two-game suspension for a hit to the head of Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave on Oct. 22. He later was suspended for four games, one day after a high blow to Minnesota Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs on Nov. 19.
Jackson was fined a total of $89,670 last season for four illegal hits. He also has lost more than $838,000 in missed game checks.
In his career, he started 193 of 203 regular-season games and eight playoff games since being drafted out of Alabama by Houston (2010-18, 2023) and Denver (2019-23). Jackson has totaled 954 tackles and 22 interceptions (returning three for touchdowns).
