Braves claim RHP Alek Manoah off waivers from Jays

The 27-year-old right-hander was limited to 10 rehab starts this season while coming back from Tommy John surgery.
The Blue Jays designated their 2019 first-round draft pick (11th overall) for assignment on Tuesday.
He was 1-1 with a 3.96 ERA across four minor league levels this season, fanning 35 batters in 38 2/3 innings.
The Braves optioned Manoah to their spring training complex.
He played in only five games for Toronto in 2024, finishing 1-2 with a 3.70 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 24 1/3 innings before having season-ending elbow surgery.
An All-Star in 2022 when he finished third in the American League Cy Young Award voting, Manoah is 29-20 with a 3.34 ERA and 412 strikeouts in 420 innings since his 2021 major league debut.
