Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston have Fever on a roll as Tempo visit

The Indiana Fever are aiming to extend their win streak to four games when they host the Toronto Tempo on Tuesday night in Commissioner's Cup action in Indianapolis.

Following some turbulent moments this season -- including a heated exchange in the huddle with coach Stephanie White -- Caitlin Clark is once again playing some of her best basketball for the Fever (8-5, 4-1 Commissioner's Cup). Across Indiana's last three wins, Clark is averaging 25.3 points, 6.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game.

In a road victory over the Connecticut Sun on Saturday, Clark dazzled by shooting 5-of-10 from 3-point land to lead the Fever to an 85-75 road victory. The win also marked the third straight game that Aliyah Boston (13 points, 11 boards) had a double-double.

What this recent win streak has shown is simple: When Clark and Boston are playing at their very best, the Fever are hard to beat.

"When you have a point guard and you have a center that are special, you can build a team around that," White said. "We've got growth opportunities, and there's no doubt about it, but I'm proud of this group, and those two put us on their shoulders."

Clark added: "We're good friends, that always helps (chemistry) ... I always know where Aliyah is. We got a little telepathy now, so hopefully we get that going more."

So far this season, Clark ranks fourth in the league in scoring and second in passing with 20.3 points and 7.8 assists per game. Boston has averaged a career-high 17.0 points and 8.4 boards per game.

Clark (back) is listed as probable for the game, while first-round draft pick Raven Johnson (ankle) was questionable on the WNBA injury report.

The Tempo (7-7, 2-3) have lost two straight games, most recently falling at home 102-77 to the Atlanta Dream in a game in which Isabelle Harrison was whistled for a flagrant 2 and ejected for taking Angel Reese to the floor on a hard foul in the third quarter.

"It's unfortunate," Tempo coach Sandy Brondello said. "I thought Izzy was playing so well for us, and she was a big target. I thought she did a great job on Angel Reese, and that's a hard guard."

Harrison finished with 17 points. Brittney Sykes and Marina Mabrey lead Toronto in scoring this season with 20.7 and 17.9 points per game, respectively.

Nyara Sabally missed her second game with the Tempo on Sunday and she was listed as out for Tuesday with a right hamstring injury. Toronto first-round pick Kiki Rice (left ankle) also was ruled out for the game.

This will be the first of three consecutive road games for the Tempo.
