Mandatory Credit: Jeff Curry-Imagn Images The St. Louis Cardinals placed rookie right-hander Matt Pushard on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday because of right knee patellar tendinitis.
The move, retroactive to Monday, came after Pushard made his major league debut Sunday in an 11-7 loss to the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. The 28-year-old pitched one inning of relief and allowed three runs on three hits and one walk with one strikeout.
In a corresponding move, the Cardinals recalled right-hander Gordon Graceffo from Triple-A Memphis. Graceffo, 26, is 3-2 with one save, a 6.04 ERA, 15 walks and 46 strikeouts in 50 2/3 innings over 28 games (one start) for St. Louis over the previous two seasons.
The Cardinals selected Graceffo in the fifth round of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Villanova.
