Carlos Alcaraz to begin Wimbledon tune-up at Queen's Club
Jun 8, 2025; Paris, FR; Carlos Alcaraz of Spain poses with the trophy after winning the men’s singles final against Jannik Sinner of Italy on day 15 at Roland Garros Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Susan Mullane-Imagn Images World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz deserved a vacation after his grueling, marathon five-set victory over No. 1 Jannik Sinner to win the French Open last Sunday.
Apparently, the short trip he took to relax at a Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea was long enough.
Alcaraz is in the field for the HSBC Championships at the Queen's Club in London, which begins Monday. He is the defending champion at Wimbledon, which starts June 30, and he is taking advantage of preparation time as the season shifts from the clay courts of Paris to the grass courts of London.
Top players don't always take advantage of playing at the Queen's Club, often using the time for injury recovery or rest, but Alacaraz is not one of them. He won the tournament there two years ago, and last year lost in the second round.
He followed with a Wimbledon win both times.
Alcaraz, 22, will face fellow Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, 26, in the first round on Monday.
