The 32-year-old veteran is under contract through the 2027-28 MLS season with an option for 2028-29.
Miller played for four other MLS clubs between 2016 and 2024, amassing 38 clean sheets in 131 matches.
"Tyler comes to Charlotte with a strong MLS pedigree and good experience with the USMNT and in Europe," general manager Zoran Krneta said. "He will provide valuable experience and competition for the top spot within our goalkeeping group this season."
Miller will back up No. 1 netminder Kristijan Kahlina when the 2026 season begins on Feb. 21 at St. Louis City.
He previously played with the Seattle Sounders (2016-17), Los Angeles FC (2018-19), Minnesota United (2020-22) and D.C. United (2023-24).
