Mandatory Credit: Jeff Curry-Imagn Images Colton Parayko scored twice and had an assist as the St. Louis Blues defeated the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs 4-2 Saturday night to snap a three-game losing streak.
Jordan Kyrou and Pavel Buchnevich also scored and Ryan Suter earned two assists for the Blues, who defeated Toronto for the second time in nine days. Jordan Binnington made 35 saves to earn his 148th victory for the Blues, tying Jake Allen for second place on the team's all-time list.
But the depleted Blues suffered another hit when defenseman Philip Broberg exited with a right leg injury in the second period.
Mitch Marner and Steven Lorentz scored for the Maple Leafs, whose three-game points streak ended. Joseph Woll, a St. Louis native, made 20 saves for Toronto.
The Maple Leafs outshot the Blues 12-4 in the first period while taking a 1-0 lead. Marner struck 5:25 into the game. Conor Timmins fired a shot from the right point and Marner came out of the right corner to deflect it on goal, then convert his own rebound.
The best St. Louis opportunity in the frame came late when Brayden Schenn missed the net on a 2-on-1 rush late in the period.
Kyrou had a clean break-in 2 minutes into the second period, but Woll denied him.
Parayko tied the game 3:29 into the period. Nathan Walker passed the puck back to the right point and Parayko hammered a one-time shot through Oskar Sundqvist's screen.
Kyrou put the Blues up 2-1 less than 5 minutes later when his centering pass toward Schenn caromed in off the skate of Toronto defenseman Jake McCabe. That snapped Kyrou's 10-game goal-scoring drought.
Parayko made it 3-1 with 7:23 left in the second period just as a St. Louis power play expired, scoring off a one-time shot from the left point.
Lorentz jammed in a loose puck with 6:08 left to cut the St. Louis lead to 3-2, but Buchnevich's empty-net goal with 39 seconds left iced the game.
