Cooper Flagg (shoulder) out vs. Spurs, to be reevaluated next week
Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg (32) celebrates a made shot in the first half against the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Dallas Mavericks star Cooper Flagg will miss Saturday's home game against the San Antonio Spurs because of a mild left shoulder sprain.
Flagg, last season's NBA Rookie of the Year, left the Mavericks' 121-105 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Friday following a hard collision with Aaron Nesmith one minute before halftime. Alone on a fastbreak, Flagg went up for a two-handed dunk when Nesmith committed a flagrant foul.
Mavericks head coach Dusty May said postgame that Flagg was in "good spirits" in the locker room. The 19-year-old, who scored 14 points with six assists in 17 minutes, underwent an MRI on Saturday that diagnosed the injury and he will be reevaluated next week.
Flagg delivered 32 points, five rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block in his lone full game this season, a 128-110 loss to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
After playing host to the Spurs, Dallas faces the Miami Heat on the road Monday before returning home for six of its next seven games.
