D-backs LHP Jordan Montgomery to have Tommy John surgery

Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Jordan Montgomery will undergo Tommy John surgery next week.
The 32-year-old veteran confirmed his season-ending elbow injury Tuesday, two days before Opening Day.
"I just haven't been recovering very well," said Montgomery, who previously had the procedure in 2018.
Montgomery was 8-7 with a 6.23 ERA in 25 games (21 starts) in his first season with Arizona in 2024.
He is 46-41 with a 4.03 ERA in 166 career games (161 starts) with the New York Yankees (2017-22), St. Louis Cardinals (2022-23), Texas Rangers (2023) and Diamondbacks.
After winning the 2023 World Series with the Rangers, Montgomery signed a one-year, $25 million contract with Arizona in March 2024 that included a $22.5 million vested player option for 2025.
