The Arizona Diamondbacks placed right-hander Michael Soroka on the 15-day injured list because of a left glute strain and outfielder Jordan Lawlar on the 10-day IL due to a strained right hamstring on Saturday.
In corresponding moves, Arizona recalled outfielder Tim Tawa and rookie left-hander Philip Abner from Triple-A Reno.
Both Soroka and Lawlar started and were injured in Friday's 9-5 home win over the Minnesota Twins.
Soroka, 28, allowed two hits and no runs in the first inning before exiting after throwing a warmup pitch before the start of the second. He had an MRI and was diagnosed with the glute injury, which is expected to keep him out at least four weeks.
Soroka is 8-3 with a 3.07 ERA, 17 walks and 79 strikeouts in 82 innings over 15 starts in his first season with Arizona.
For his career, Soroka is 28-29 with a 3.73 ERA, 157 walks and 458 strikeouts in 497 2/3 innings over 106 regular-season games (84 starts) with the Atlanta Braves (2018-20, 2023), Chicago White Sox (2024), Washington Nationals (2025), Chicago Cubs (2025) and Diamondbacks.
He made the National League All-Star team and was Rookie of the Year runner-up in 2019 but missed the entire 2021 and 2022 seasons with Achilles injuries.
Lawlar was 2-for-4 on Friday against the Twins, then came out of the game after beating out a bunt single in the eighth inning. Lawler, 23, also had an MRI on Saturday.
He is batting .316 (12-for-38) with one home run and four RBIs in 12 games. He sustained a fractured right wrist when hit by a pitch on April 2 and placed on the IL before returning to action on June 12.
For his career, he is batting .207 (28-for-135) in 54 games over parts of the 2023, 2025 and current seasons. The Diamondbacks selected Lawlar sixth overall in the 2021 MLB Draft.
Abner, 24, has made two relief appearances for Arizona this season and has two walks and three strikeouts with a 17.18 ERA in 3 2/3 innings. The lefty is 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA with nine walks and 23 strikeouts in 22 2/3 innings in 22 relief appearances at Reno.
Tawa, 27, batted .169 (10-for-59) with one homer and eight RBIs in 29 games for Arizona. He was batting .351 (20-for-57) with five homers and 16 RBIs in 15 games with Reno.
