Danny Musovski’s early goal is enough for Sounders to top FC Dallas
Apr 12, 2025; Frisco, Texas, USA; FC Dallas defender Nolan Norris (32) draws a yellow card for a foul against Seattle Sounders forward Pedro De La Vega (10) during the first half at Toyota Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Chris Jones-Imagn Images Danny Musovski scored on the rebound of a shot by Pedro de la Vega in the 17th minute and the Seattle defense, anchored by keeper Stefan Frei, made that tally stand up as the visiting Sounders beat FC Dallas 1-0 on Saturday in a Western Conference match in Frisco, Texas.
Seattle (2-3-3, 9 points) snapped a four-match winless streak, triumphing for the first time since March 8 and for the first time on the road this season.
Frei had to make just one save to earn his third clean sheet of the year.
Dallas showed little in the loss, amassing just 10 shots - one on goal -- in the loss. The Toros (3-3-2, 11 points) had a three-game unbeaten streak halted.
The Sounders produced the only two shots on goal in the first half and found the net with the first. Seattle struck in the 17th minute as Musovski was in the right place at the right time to boot home a rebound of a blistering kick by de la Vega that bounced off the left post.
Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes had leapt to his right to try to get a hand on de la Vega's kick from outside the box and was in no position to do anything about Musovski's right-footed rebound shot.
De la Vega had a chance to add to the Seattle lead in the 42nd minute. He unleashed a quick-strike right-footed laser from outside the area, but this time Paes was up to the task, diving to his left and throwing his right hand up just in time to deflect the shot wide of the goal.
Dallas' chances of mounting a comeback was dealt a blow when key forward Petar Musa had to be stretchered off the pitch late in the first half with a left foot injury.
The Sounders stayed on the aggressive early in the second half as Yeimar Gomez Andrade tested Paes in the 47th minute after a corner kick set up by a Paul Rothrock shot that was deflected out of harm's way.
Ramiro Benetti had the Toros' only shot on goal when he softly lifted a shot in the 57th minute over the traffic in front of the goal mouth that was easily corralled by Frei. Seattle responded two minutes later when Obed Vargas clanged a shot off the right post.
