Derrick Jones Jr. Is College Basketball's Best Dunker
UNLV small forward Derrick Jones Jr. is a freshman, a mere teenager, not yet old enough to drink. And yet, he is terrorizing rims in and around gyms across America:
That jam was from this afternoon, towards the end of UNLV’s 20-point win over Chaminade in the Maui Invitational. It’s a great dunk, but it’s not even the best jam he’s jammed this month!
Jones Jr. is more than a dunking specialist. Although he comes off the bench for the Runnin’ Rebels and plays the sixth most minutes, he is second on the team in scoring at 14.6 points per game. He is rather versatile as well, as he added 10 rebounds, three steals, and three blocks today. Most impressively, he has but a single turnover all year.
Well, okay, duh, that lone turnover is the second most impressive thing about Jones Jr.’s freshman season because look at those jams.
