Mandatory Credit: Jayne Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Gavin Stone underwent shoulder surgery and is expected to miss the 2025 season.
Stone, 25, started the season in the Dodgers' rotation to fill a void created by multiple injuries on the staff. Still a rookie in 2024, despite eight appearances in 2023, Stone established himself this past season by going 11-5 with a 3.53 ERA in 25 starts.
His last outing came Aug. 31 when he went five innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks and matched a season high by allowing five runs.
In his two seasons with Los Angeles, which selected him in the fifth round of the 2020 draft, Stone is 12-6 with a 4.52 ERA in 33 appearances (29 starts).
The Dodgers were set to open the National League Championship Series against the visiting New York Mets on Sunday with right-hander Jack Flaherty on the mound. With continued injury issues, the club has not named a pitcher for Game 2, with manager Dave Roberts considering either right-hander Walker Buehler or a bullpen game.
