Dolphins patient with De'Von Achane, rule out Raheem Mostert
Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane (28) celebrates a touchdown with Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert (31) against the New York Giants during the first half of an NFL game at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, October 8, 2023. The Miami Dolphins will take a wait-and-see approach with respect to whether running back De'Von Achane plays in Thursday's game against the visiting Buffalo Bills.
Achane is dealing with an ankle injury after touching the ball 17 times in Miami's 20-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. He had 10 carries for 24 yards and a touchdown to go along with seven catches for 76 yards.
"We'll see how it plays out," Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said of Achane, who has been held out of practice this week.
Running back Raheem Mostert, however, has been ruled out for Thursday's contest after sustaining a chest injury in the season opener. Mostert gained 19 yards from scrimmage prior to the injury.
"His injury, not many people play with. ... He showed his toughness," McDaniel said.
Jeff Wilson Jr. and fourth-round draft pick Jaylen Wright likely will see playing time should Achane sit out on Thursday.
Wilson had five carries for 26 yards on Sunday. Wright was ruled inactive for that game.
