Hill, who is having a receiving season for the ages, was injured late in the first quarter while being tackled. Tennessee's Sean Murphy-Bunting brought down Hill, with the latter's lower left leg getting stuck underneath the left side of the cornerback's body.
Hill watched the rest of the first half from the sideline without his helmet. He had two catches for 13 yards.
Hill entered Week 14 as the NFL leader with 1,481 receiving yards and 12 scoring receptions. He stood second with 93 catches.
The 29-year-old Hill has his sights on becoming the first player in NFL history to reach 2,000 receiving yards. Former Detroit Lions star Calvin Johnson set the record of 1,964 in 2012.
Miami didn't score an offensive touchdown in the first half and trailed 10-7 at the break.
Also, Dolphins center Connor Williams (knee) was hurt early in the first quarter and was later ruled out by the team.
