Don't Forget To Call Your Pulling Guard Tomorrow
Speaking at the Wisconsin Republican Party convention, Senator Sam Brownback thought he'd use a football analogy to stress the importance of rebuilding families. What he failed to realize, though, is that in Wisconsin, family is not important. Brett Favre is important.
"This is fundamental blocking and tackling," he said. "This is your line in football. If you don't have a line, how many passes can Peyton Manning complete? Greatest quarterback, maybe, in NFL history."
Nice work, buddy. Might as well get up there and say, "You know what I hate? Cheese. Everyone who eats cheese is a dickhead."
The guy was booed, and then realized what he had done ... at least it seemed. He laughed at himself, and then said that Bart Starr may have been the greatest of all time. Wrong again, jackass!
"Let's take Favre then," Brownback said. "The Packers are great. I'm sorry. How many passes does he complete without a line?"
"All of them!" more than one person yelled from the back.
Not true. He tried last year. The correct answer is 56%.
At the end of this, even with all the blatant and misguided disrespect of Brett Favre, I still can't help but think ... "families as offensive lines" is a really dumb analogy.
