Kevin Garnett Walked Out Of Practice To Sit In Flip Saunders's Parking Spot

Flip Saunders helped Kevin Garnett as he turned into a dominant NBA player. Their reign on the Timberwolves was the most successful in the team’s short history, and Garnett waived his no-trade clause in February to reunite with Saunders and help the new, young foundation in Minnesota. When Saunders died on Sunday, Garnett promptly remembered his coach.

Jon Krawczynski of the Associated Press reported that the Timberwolves stopped practice when owner Glen Taylor passed on the news to general manager Milt Newton:

The Timberwolves had started to practice on Sunday when Newton got word from Taylor of Saunders’ death. Practice was halted and a devastated Garnett left the floor, walked to the parking garage at the practice facility and sat down in the spot marked for Saunders. He posted a picture of the moment on his Facebook page with the message “Forever in my heart ...”
