Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images The Atlanta Falcons signed right tackle Kaleb McGary to a two-year contract extension through 2027 on Monday, with ESPN reporting the deal is worth $30 million.
McGary, 30, helped the Falcons finish 10th in rushing offense last season at 130.5 yards on the ground per game. Atlanta also was sixth in the NFL in total yards per game (369.8).
The 6-foot-6, 330-pounder now has added responsibilities to protect the back side of left-handed quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who is expected to take over full time after starting the final three games last season. Atlanta went 1-2 in those games, with both losses in overtime.
McGary was a first-round draft pick by the Falcons in 2019 out of Washington and has started 92 of the 93 games he has appeared in over six NFL seasons.
