Mandatory Credit: Patrick Gorski-Imagn Images The Indiana Fever's clash with the host Chicago Sky on Sunday averaged 3.31 million viewers on NBC and Peacock, making it the WNBA's most-watched regular-season game since the league's inaugural season in 1997.
It was also the third most-watched regular-season game in league history.
The New York Liberty-Los Angeles Sparks season-opening game on June 21, 1997, averaged 5.04 million viewers. The Charlotte Sting and Phoenix Mercury tipped off the following day, with 3.59 million viewers tuning in. Those games were also broadcast on NBC.
Caitlin Clark sank a career-best eight 3-pointers to highlight a 37-point performance in the Fever's 113-90 victory.
The teams were meeting for the first time since Indiana's Sophie Cunningham was fouled on a breakaway by Chicago's DiJonai Carrington during a game on Aug. 8. Carrington was ejected for a Flagrant 2 foul in the Fever's 90-86 win.
