Four-goal third propels surging Maple Leafs past Oilers

Mandatory Credit: Perry Nelson-Imagn Images William Nylander scored two of Toronto's four third-period goals as the visiting Maple Leafs extended their winning streak to four with a 7-2 drubbing of the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.
Jack Roslovic recorded a goal and an assist, while Auston Matthews, Troy Stecher, Zack MacEwen and Vinni Lettieri also scored and Kirill Marchenko nabbed two assists. For Edmonton, Leon Draisaitl scored twice and Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard had two helpers each.
Anthony Stolarz stopped 30 shots for his fourth victory as Toronto posted its first four-game win streak since January. Tristan Jarry turned away 25 shots for the Oilers, who had won three in a row.
Roslovic received credit for Toronto's opening goal in a high-octane opening frame as both teams' injury-riddled blue lines struggled to contain their speedy opponents.
Jarry made a pad save to deny Easton Cowan on a 2-on-1 before Roslovic batted the puck towards goal. Oilers defenseman Jake Walman inadvertently chipped the puck into his own net in a desperate attempt to clear it away 14:16 into the period.
Roslovic sprung Cowan on another 2-on-1 early in the second period. Cowan played the puck through the legs of Ryan Shea and onto the tape of Matthews, who ripped it into the open cage 5:29 into the period.
Fresh off his game-winning goal against the New York Rangers on Thursday, Stecher exchanged passes with Marchenko and fired it past Jarry from the high slot to make it 3-0.
Draisaitl finally solved Stolarz during a period of 4-on-4 play, receiving a drop pass from McDavid and floating one through a maze of bodies to make it 3-1 with 56 seconds remaining in the second.
Nylander restored Toronto's three-goal lead 14 seconds into its first power play and 5:59 into the third period off a powerful one-timer from the center of the faceoff circle.
MacEwen scored his first goal as a Maple Leaf in a bizarre sequence, driving on net and batting in his rebound 13:39 into the period. Draisaitl scored on the power play three minutes later, then Nylander scored an empty-netter with 2:04 remaining.
Lettieri followed with his first Toronto goal with 31 seconds left.
