The 22-year-old from France, who last played in September, announced her reluctant withdrawal from the season-opening major via Instagram on Monday.
"Going to Australia and playing the Australian Open has always been a dream of mine since I was a kid. I tried everything to be ready on time but I know that rushing can harm my body and my health in the long term especially," Boisson wrote.
"We made the decision not to participate in the Australian Open. To have a (long-term) vision and compete at 100% for the rest of the season. I know this is the right decision even if it was a very difficult one. I've been going through a very difficult period for several months now, a tough time both mentally and physically (with) injuries that are preventing me from being where I would like to be and from doing what I love most."
Boisson, the world's No. 35 player, authored a Cinderella run to the 2025 French Open semis last May as a wild-card entry making her Grand Slam debut. She beat seeded opponents Elise Mertens and Jessica Pegula in front of an adoring home crowd before losing 6-1, 6-2 to eventual champion Coco Gauff.
Viktorija Golubic eliminated Boisson in the 2025 U.S. Open first round in her only other appearance in the main draw of a major.
Boisson's ailments include a quad injury that forced her to retire from the third round of the China Open on Sept. 29.
The Australian Open begins Jan. 18.
