Gangrenous, Flesh-Eating Penis Infection Results In Most Harrowing Paragraph Ever
I'm not sure if we can technically call this "Deadspin XY" anymore but just suspend your disbelief for a bit, it's the only way I can legitimize writing about it. Enrique Milla has sued an anesthesiologist in Miami for failing to recognize he was a surgical risk due to uncontrolled diabetes. What does a man with uncontrolled diabetes have surgery for, you ask? A penile implant to treat erectile dysfunction, of course.
Milla alleges the surgery went ahead despite high blood pressure and high blood sugar levels which, it is alleged, the anesthesiologist would have known had he taken the measurements prior to the operation. Nine days later a gangrene infection attacked Milla's penis and, well, just read, in the words of his attorney Spencer Aronfeld:
Aronfeld detailed the traumatic experience his client went through. "Turned into a flesh-eating bacteria that ate his penis centimeter by centimeter," he said, " and as a result of this, he has to spend the rest of his life without a functioning penis. He has to sit down to urinate. He'll never have any intimate relationships with anyone, and he's lost his manhood."
Sweet Jesus, Prometheus wept. When it comes to surgery, even if it is broke, don't fix it—unless you'll die without surgical intervention. Otherwise you'll wind up with an eaten penis.
