Mandatory Credit: Stephen R. Sylvanie-Imagn Images Pavel Dorofeyev scored two goals and assisted on a third as the Vegas Golden Knights scored four unanswered goals en route to a 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday night in Las Vegas.
It was the third multi-goal game of Dorofeyev's career. Tomas Hertl had a goal and an assist, Shea Theodore and Mark Stone added two assists apiece, and Keegan Kolesar also scored for Vegas, which snapped a two-game losing streak. Adin Hill stopped 15 of 16 shots as the Golden Knights improved to 23-3-2 against Western Conference teams.
Ryan Hartman scored for Minnesota, which had a four-game road win streak snapped. Filip Gustavsson finished with 33 saves for the Wild, who began the night with an NHL-best 16-3-3 road mark.
Minnesota, playing the second game of a back-to-back that began with a 3-1 victory at San Jose on Saturday night, took a 1-0 lead at the 12:09 mark of the first period when Hartman finished a 2-on-1 breakout after a turnover by Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb. Hartman put a wrist shot past Hill's glove side.
Vegas tied it in the second period on a power-play goal by Dorofeyev. The goal came after the Wild had killed 1:56 of a two-man advantage for the Golden Knights and came with just two seconds left on the second penalty.
Stone drew the primary assist with a pass into the slot, where a wide-open Dorofeyev roofed a wrist shot into the top-right corner of the net.
Kolesar made it 2-1 early in the third period when he backhanded in a rebound of a shot by Zach Whitecloud. Hertl extended the lead to 3-1 with 4:20 left when he ripped in a rebound of his own shot into the top-right corner.
Dorofeyev broke the game open with his team-leading 16th goal on the power play with 2:12 remaining to cap a three-goal third period for the Golden Knights.
