Norman, who hails from Queensland, Australia, is a two-time Open champion (1986, 1993) and former CEO of LIV Golf. "The Shark" held the latter position until earlier this month when it was announced that he was being replaced by Scott O'Neil.
Per News Corp., Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese selected Norman to replace a retiring politician on the 24-member organizing board for the 2032 Olympics.
"In my youth in the 70s, I worked in the golf shop at Royal Queensland (Golf Club), and now that course will be the home of golf at Brisbane 2032," the 69-year-old Norman said, per the Courier-Mail newspaper in Brisbane.
"As a proud Queenslander, it is an honor and privilege to help shape the Brisbane Games."
Sports Minister Anika Wells was pleased with the selection of Norman.
"(Norman) is synonymous with Australian sporting success on the world stage and I look forward to drawing on his 40 years of global sporting experience and business acumen," Wells said, per the newspaper.
