Capela experienced discomfort Saturday during Atlanta's 141-134 overtime win against the Golden State Warriors. An MRI on Sunday discovered the strain, and the Hawks said he will be re-evaluated in seven to 10 days.
Capela scored 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting and grabbed 15 rebounds in 25 minutes against the Warriors. It was his fourth straight double-double and his sixth in seven games.
Capela, 29, averages 11.5 points and leads Atlanta with 10.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game over 47 games (all starts). He has 23 double-doubles in his fourth season with the Hawks.
In 10 NBA seasons for the Houston Rockets (2014-20) and Hawks, Capela has career averages of 12.3 points, 10.7 boards and 1.5 blocks per contest.
