Mandatory Credit: Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young exited Wednesday's game against the Brooklyn Nets in New York after colliding with a teammate late in the first quarter.
The Hawks announced he won't return to the game with a right knee sprain.
With 2:09 remaining, the Hawks were defending an inbounds pass and Mouhamed Gueye moved away from Brooklyn's Noah Clowney to get closer to the basket. Gueye collided with Young's leg and the guard fell to the court near the basket.
Young tried to stay in the game, but that lasted just a few seconds before the Hawks called timeout and he hobbled off the floor to the locker room.
Young scored six points in seven minutes, and the Hawks held a six-point lead when he was injured. He entered Wednesday averaging 20.8 points while shooting 36.4% in Atlanta's first four games and had his second straight double-double with 21 points and 17 assists in a five-point loss to the Chicago Bulls on Monday.
