Jermaine Jones Gets Red Card, Attacks Referee
Jermaine Jones, German-born USMNTer currently in MLS to get some checks and play whatever position he wants, has a history of getting heated and falling ass first into some stupid red cards. Back at Schalke, he got suspended for two months for stomping on Marco Reus’s foot.
Tonight, Jones’s New England Revolution got booted from the MLS playoffs by D.C. 2-1. In stoppage time, Jones got a handball against D.C. in the penalty box, but ref Mark Geiger didn’t call it. So he sprinted across the field to accost and than shove Geiger. That’s about the easiest red card ever. Calm down man.
Jones has done this to Geiger before, in an almost identical situation, against the same team. You may recall a similar USMNT vs. Referee incident this summer, when Clint Dempsey tore up an official’s notebook after a bad call.
