Jets pass rusher Haason Reddick sitting out in contract dispute

Mandatory Credit: Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports Training camp begins for the Jets on Tuesday, but apparently not for newly acquired pass rusher Haason Reddick.
Reddick was a no-show, according to multiple reports, and doesn't plan to arrive in Florham Park, N.J., with his new team until the front office addresses his contract situation. Reddick, acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles, is in the last year of his contract with a salary of $14.5 million in 2024.
The absence is no surprise to the Jets.
Reddick's camp reportedly informed general manager Joe Douglas of his position on playing without a long-term deal before he skipped organized team activities and minicamp, the mandatory workouts in June.
Reddick has 50.5 sacks the past four seasons. He signed a three-year, $45 million contract with the Eagles in 2022.
By comparison, new Giants edge rusher Brian Burns -- traded to New York from the Carolina Panthers in the offseason -- has 38.5 sacks the past four seasons and signed a five-year, $141 million contract when the deal was completed.
New York considers Reddick a starter at one defensive end position after dealing away John Franklin-Myers, who was traded to the Broncos in April, and losing Bryce Huff to the Eagles in free agency.
Reddick turns 30 in September.
