Knicks Guard Cleanthony Early Shot During Roadside Robbery
Knicks guard Cleanthony Early was shot in the right leg when a group of at least six men held up the Uber car he and his girlfriend were riding in early Wednesday morning. Early was robbed of jewelry, cash, and his cell phone, and his injuries are not life threatening.
The robbery occurred at around 4:30 a.m. in Queens. Early and his girlfriend were on their way home from a club when the robbers forced the Uber they were in to pull over. The Wall Street Journal has the details:
Minutes later, the Uber vehicle was boxed in by two or three vehicles in an industrial area, the official said. Two men—one wearing a mask and another who didn’t—pulled Mr. Early out of the back seat, the official said. Both had small semiautomatic guns and told Mr. Early to give them everything that he had, the official said. Mr. Early then turned over his valuables, the official said.
The Uber driver was unharmed and only robbed of his identification, the official said. Mr. Early’s girlfriend was also unharmed, the official said.
Early was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, and was listed as being in stable condition.
