Mandatory Credit: Eric Canha-Imagn Images Kyle Schwarber hit his 18th home run of the season and Jesus Luzardo pitched six scoreless innings to help the Philadelphia Phillies pick up a 3-1 road victory over the Boston Red Sox on Thursday.
Schwarber's home run came against Tyler Samaniego (0-1) in the eighth inning after Trea Turner led off the inning with a single. It was Schwarber's seventh home run in his last seven games.
The Phillies added a run later in the inning when Bryson Stott's single drove in Alec Bohm from third to make it 3-0.
Luzardo limited Boston to four hits and struck out four before he left the mound after six innings, but he did not figure in the decision. Brad Keller (2-1) got the win for pitching a scoreless seventh.
Boston made it 3-1 in the bottom of the eighth. Andruw Monasterio doubled and scored on Wilyer Abreu's one-out single, but the Red Sox left two runners on base in the inning. Jhoan Duran tossed a scoreless ninth to record save No. 7.
It was the 16th time the Red Sox have scored three runs or fewer in a game at Fenway Park this season. Boston has failed to score more than three runs in 25 of its 43 games, and has been held to 22 runs in its last 12 home games.
Boston starting pitcher Ranger Suarez exited the mound after tossing 5 1/3 scoreless innings. He gave up four hits, struck out eight and walked one. Suarez left his previous start with hamstring tightness May 3.
Philadelphia loaded the bases in the fifth on singles by Bohm, Brandon Marsh and Felix Reyes, but Suarez struck out Edmundo Sosa and Turner to get out of the inning without allowing a run.
The Phillies, who prevailed 2-1 on Tuesday, won two games in the three-game series.
