Let's Celebrate The Least Efficient Scorer in The Premier League
The chart above shows the Premier Leaguers with the highest ratios of goals to shots on goal this season among those who've both scored and averaged two tries per league game. It seems like the sort of thing you could write quite a lot about, but then the more you think about it, the less clear it is just how much of a virtue goal scoring efficiency is in a game that really isn't some neoliberal exercise in which superfluity and failure come in for consideration as inherently morally suspect. Congratulations to Spurs' Andros Townsend for having heroically hit the back of the net once in 29 tries, and to Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey for having been so comparatively precise without playing as some sort of mechanical contraption designed to prove a point about ideology.
