LIV Golf announces return to South Africa in 2027

Mandatory Credit: Hamad I Mohammed/Reuters via Imagn Images Mere hours after Bryson DeChambeau sank the par putt that defeated Spain's Jon Rahm in a LIV Golf South Africa playoff on Sunday, LIV Golf announced it will host another tournament in South Africa next year.
The tour will return to The Club at Steyn City, just north of Johannesburg, after attracting what LIV Golf claimed to be a record-setting crowd for South Africa - more than 100,000 fans during the week-long event. Next year's event will run April 22-25.
"We are proud to welcome LIV Golf back to Steyn City in 2027 as we continue to position South Africa as a premier destination for international sport and entertainment," said Gayton McKenzie, the Minister for Sport, Arts and Culture in South Africa, in a statement.
In the inaugural event, DeChambeau and Rahm finished the 72 holes at 26-under-par 258. DeChambeau needed a birdie at 18 to force the playoff. The duo returned to the 18th tee and DeChambeau scrambled for a par to claim his second straight LIV victory in his final tuneup for The Masters that begins April 9 in Augusta, Ga.
