Manchester City had a crazy bus ride into Anfield today ahead of their Champions League match against Liverpool, as the soon-to-be English champions were greeted by passionate home supporters who happened also to be armed with projectiles and flares. Alternately, if you don’t know the context, the images suggest a team bus rolling onto the set of a movie about a post-apocalyptic city starring some very British hooligans.

Here are some images of increasingly intensity:

Liverpool released a statement condemning the fan behavior, though no one appeared to be hurt. Worse, however, is the fact that City’s bus is reportedly damaged enough to be unable to make the trip back to Manchester. That’s a tough break, because City’s going to want to get out of Merseyside as soon as possible.
