Mariners place OF Victor Robles (pec strain) on IL

Rebilas-Imagn Images The Mariners placed outfielder Victor Robles on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right pectoral strain.
Seattle called up infielder/outfielder Connor Joe from Triple-A Tacoma and transferred right-hander Carlos Vargas from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list in corresponding transactions.
Robles, 28, who missed most of last season with a dislocated shoulder, is batting .231 (3-for-13) with one RBI and one stolen base through five games this season. His IL designation is retroactive to Tuesday.
Joe, 33, signed with the Mariners in free agency in February. He is batting .235 (8-for-34) with one homer and four RBIs in nine games at Tacoma this season.
Vargas, 26, landed on the 15-day IL with a right lat strain on March 27. He was 5-5 with a 3.97 ERA in 70 relief appearances for the Mariners last season.
