Sokolowski-Imagn Images The Seattle Mariners will be without right-handed starter Emerson Hancock for at least two weeks due to a left adductor strain.
Hancock, 27, was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday, retroactive to Saturday, interrupting a breakout season. The Mariners' 2020 first-round pick is 7-8 in 25 starts with a career-best 3.57 ERA over a career-high 138 2/3 innings. Over four seasons, he is 15-17 with a 4.24 ERA over 301 1/3 innings and 62 games (56 starts).
In a corresponding move, right-handed reliever Nick Davila was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.
With Hancock sidelined, Bryce Miller could rejoin the rotation and start in Hancock's place Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox. Miller was moved into a bullpen role Friday amid lengthy struggles. Per MLB.com, the Mariners have not confirmed whether Miller will make that start.
Miller, 28, is 0-6 with a 7.19 ERA in 41 1/3 innings over his last eight starts, all Seattle losses. This season, he is 4-8 with a 4.12 ERA in 17 games (16 starts) spanning 94 innings.
Davila, 27, made his big-league debut May 3 with the Mariners and has a 4.10 ERA in 23 relief appearances.
