Mandatory Credit: Sam Navarro-Imagn Images Ahead of their three-game interleague series opener against the Boston Red Sox on Monday, the Miami Marlins activated first baseman/outfielder Kyle Stowers from the 10-day injured list.
Stowers, 28, a first-time All-Star last season, was placed on the IL with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain on Aug. 11, retroactive to Aug. 10.
Stowers, who entered Monday batting .242 this season with 16 homers and 52 RBIs in 94 games, started at first base and batted third.
"I feel good ... I feel more comfortable this time than I did last time," Stowers said, referring to his IL stint in April for a right hamstring strain that delayed his season debut until April 19.
"Mentally, this was my best (IL stint) this time. The last couple times, it was really hard mentally on me. This time I was really bummed, but I made it what it was. It was an injury, didn't make it any deeper than it needed to be. I was a lot more clear-headed this time with the injury. Just took it day by day. I think that was the biggest growth I've made so far."
Selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the second round of the 2019 draft, Stowers played parts of three seasons with the Orioles (2022-24) before being dealt to the Marlins. He has hit .249 with 47 homers and 160 RBIs in 328 games.
In a corresponding move, the Marlins optioned third baseman Deyvison De Los Santos to Triple-A Jacksonville. The 23-year-old made his major league debut March 29 and is 3-for-9 with a double.
The Marlins entered play Monday four games behind the San Diego Padres for the final National League wild-card spot.
