Marlins sign veteran RHP Chris Paddack
Detroit Tigers pitcher Chris Paddack (40) throws against New York Mets during the seventh inning at Comerica Park in Detroit on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. The Miami Marlins signed veteran right-hander Chris Paddock to a one-year contract on Thursday.
Terms were not disclosed, but MLB Network reported the former free agent's deal is valued at $4 million and includes an additional $500,000 in incentives.
It's a return to the Marlins organization for Paddack, 30, who was drafted by Miami in the eighth round in 2015 but was traded to San Diego the next year.
He split last season with Detroit (12 games) and Minnesota (21 appearances), going 5-12 with one save, a 5.35 ERA and one save in a career-high 158 innings over 33 games (28 starts). He led the American League with 94 earned runs allowed.
Paddack is 32-36 with one save, a 4.64 ERA in 118 games (110 starts) with the Padres (2019-21), Twins (2022-25) and Tigers.
In a corresponding move to make room on the 40-man roster, the Marlins placed right-handed reliever Ronny Henriquez, 25, on the 60-day injured list. Henriquez had Tommy John surgery on his right elbow after the 2025 season and is expected to miss all of the 2026 campaign.
He was 7-1 with seven saves, a 2.22 ERA, 27 walks and 98 strikeouts in 73 innings over 69 relief appearances last season.
