Mikaela Shiffrin ends medal drought with gold in women's slalom
Mikaela Shiffrin won the gold medal in the women's slalom on Wednesday at the Milan Cortina Olympics. CORTINA D'AMPEZZO, Italy -- U.S. Alpine ski great Mikaela Shiffrin held her nerve and won the women's slalom at the Milan Cortina Games on Wednesday for her first Olympic medal since 2018.
Switzerland's Camille Rast took silver and Sweden's Anna Swenn Larsson the bronze.
Shiffrin, 30, entered six events in Beijing in 2022 and won no medals.
This is her third gold medal in the Olympics. She previously won gold in the women's slalom at the 2014 Sochi Games, then gold in the giant slalom and silver in the combined in Pyeongchang four years later.
