NFC East Quarterback Who Has Actually Won A Couple Super Bowls Says His Team Isn't A Dynasty
Leave the dynasty talk for Philadelphia, where they win Super Bowls nearly every summer. Eli Manning was asked on NFL AM ( via ProFootballTalk) whether the Giants constitute a dynasty. His response was essentially "aw shucks, you guys."
"No, no, we're not," Manning said. "We had a little break - the two years prior to last year we didn't make the playoffs. We've got work to do. We have good players on this team, we have the potential to be a playoff team and to make a run once we get into the playoffs."
An accurate, if not flashy quote. We're a good team. Hopefully we'll make the playoffs. After that it's a crap shoot. The Giants could tell you better than any team that just making it to January is the only thing that matters, because the "better" team doesn't always win in the playoffs. Over the last five seasons, New York has missed the postseason twice, and weren't close to being a dominant team even in the years they did win. Unless we're willing to water down the concept beyond recognition, the Giants aren't any more of a dynasty than the Eagles can realistically expect to be. At least one team's QB is honest about it.
