NFL Officials Could Not Be More Ready For The Preseason To End
Very late in the third quarter of last night's Chiefs-Packers game, KC's Joe McKnight just got the ball into the end zone. It took officials a few seconds to sort things out, but not long enough for referee Terry McAulay's taste.
Had the game clock counted down to zero, the ensuing kickoff could have taken place to start the fourth quarter and wound down some valuable time. Instead, it went on the board with three seconds left in the third after being signaled by line judge Tom Stephan. Then—and it sadly wasn't captured on TV—this:
