The incident occurred in the third period of the Devils' 4-3 victory, and Chiarot was not penalized.
The money from the fine, which is the maximum allowable under the collective bargaining agreement, goes to the players' emergency assistance fund.
Chiarot, 34, has two goals, four assists and 24 penalty minutes in 23 games this season, his fourth with the Red Wings and 13th in the NHL.
