Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-Imagn Images Denver Nuggets forward Cameron Johnson will undergo an MRI to diagnose the extent of a right knee injury suffered in Tuesday night's loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
The injury occurred with 9:18 remaining in the game. He was aided off the court after falling and grabbing his knee. He did not return.
"Hopefully, it's better than it looked," Denver coach David Adelman said, confirming the upcoming MRI.
The Nuggets lost 131-130. They already are without two starters -- guard Christian Braun (ankle), out since a Nov. 12 injury, and forward Aaron Gordon (hamstring). Gordon sustained his injury on Nov. 21.
Johnson, 29, is averaging 11.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 28 games (all starts) this season, his first in Denver.
The Nuggets acquired Johnson in an offseason trade with the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Michael Porter Jr. and a first-round pick in 2032.
A first-round draft pick in 2019, Johnson also previously played for the Phoenix Suns.
He has career averages of 12.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 368 games (209 starts).
