Mandatory Credit: Matt Cashore-Imagn Images Bia Zaneratto and Temwa Chawinga scored seven minutes apart in the first half as the Kansas City Current earned a 3-1 victory over the host Chicago Stars on Saturday night.
Zaneratto scored in the 34th minute and Chawinga tallied in the 41st as Kansas City (8-2-0, 24 points) won its third straight since taking consecutive losses to Seattle Reign FC and the North Carolina Courage on April 26 and May 2, respectively.
Zaneratto also set up Chawinga, who scored her sixth goal of the season by splitting two defenders and sending the ball into the slightly open left side of the net.
Kayla Sharples also scored for the Current, who saw seven of their 13 shot attempts go on target.
Shea Groom scored in the 51st minute and it was the lone shot on target for Chicago (1-8-1, 4 points), which had two shot attempts and is winless in its past six matches (0-5-1) since a 2-1 win over Bay FC on April 13.
Dash 2, Bay FC 2
Messiah Bright scored the tying goal in the 88th minute as the host Houston Dash rallied for the draw with Bay FC.
Bright scored her first career NWSL goal by racing down the left side of the field and making a 1-on-1 transition move around a defender and sending the ball into the upper corner of the net by goalie Jordan Silkowitz.
Bright's tally helped the Dash (3-6-1, 10 points) bounce back from a 4-1 loss to Portland Thorns FC on May 16.
Avery Patterson scored in the 33rd minute for Houston, which scored more than one goal for only the second time this season.
Penelope Hocking and Rachel Hill scored three minutes apart in the opening 15 minutes of the second half for Bay FC (3-4-3, 12 points), which was unable to win consecutive games for the first time this season.
Houston goalie Abby Smith made three saves while Silkowitz stopped six shots.
